Gina Macauley
Gina's Yoga journey began in the late 80s as a student and she has been teaching since 2009. Over her years of practice she discovered that there is no one style that best suits her body all the time and it is this philosophy that she brings to her teaching, giving her students the benefit of her combined influences to discover how best to work with their own body and mind to achieve their lifestyle goals.
Today, Gina mostly teacher a therapeutic style of yoga. Her general therapeutic classes are hatha based and are suitable for most students. They include postures (asana), breathing (pranayama), relaxation and some meditation. The classes aims to nourish your entire body and mind, to help you feel centred, focused and balanced. Various levels of postures are offered to cater for a variety of student abilities. Gina also offers an integrated class that focuses on deepen your yoga practice through some of yoga's more philosophical principles. We look a asana, pranayama and meditation through the lens of philosophy and within the guidelines of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
Gina has an Advanced Diploma in Yoga Teaching through the Academy of Yoga Learning, a Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy through the Australian Institute of Yoga Therapy and is a Certified iRest® Yoga Nidra teacher. She is on the faculty of the Academy of Yoga Learning and Australian Institute of Yoga Therapy. She has also undertaken studies with Indian teachers AG and Indra Mohan, Saraswathi Vasudevan and at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai.
Gina is a Senior registered teacher with Yoga Australia, a Yoga Australia registered yoga therapist, and a C-IAYT certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She has served on the Yoga Australia Victorian Committee and is continually studying and practicing Yoga.
Yoga Australia is Australia's peak body for Yoga teachers. This ensures your yoga teacher has a certain minimum level of training (Yoga Australia's standards are amongst the highest in the world), is continually participating in professional development and is up to date with training and industry standards.
